KatzMeow, an Eastern 31' downeast style cruiser, was built by SeaCoast Boat Builders in Milton, New Hampshire.  We had visited the SeaCoast booth at boat shows so often, that Bob Walker, our sales rep., was beginning to think we were just boat show groupies. When we finally decided to take the plunge he felt his five years of sales effort had paid off at last. It has been said that the two most wonderful times in a boater's life are buying their first boat, and selling their last boat.  This was neither our first, nor hopefully our last.  But ordering and watching this boat being constructed at SeaCoast has been a truly wonderful experience.  The rest we leave to history!

SeaCoast Boat Builders offers the Eastern JC 31' in a variety of configurations.   The owner specifies the configuration based on the intended use. We wanted a boat primarily for cruising the coast of Maine.  A boat so equipped would also be excellent for Coast Guard Auxiliary Patrols. Choosing the options became fairly easy.  A boat like this will take about two months to complete from mould to water, utilizing approximately 1000 man hours of construction time. Above is KatzMeow on the day before Thanksgiving 1998. She was shrink-wrapped for the winter, awaiting sea trials in the spring 99. This website includes pictures and details of her construction over the two-month period from Sept. 18. to Nov. 25 1998.
